Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the satellite TV signal get to my TV?
A: We mount a satellite dish on or near your home (the dish will be between 18” and 36” in size). We then run a cable from the dish to your television(s) or to an existing cable distribution point within your home. The cable connects to a receiver that decodes the satellite signals and delivers superior television pictures to your television(s).

Q: How long do installations take?
A: Typically our installations take from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the complexity of the installation. Complexity can be impacted by distance from dish to television and number of televisions in your home.

Q: Can I watch satellite TV on different televisions?
A: Every one of your televisions (up to 4 in your home) can get the service – you make that choice.

Q: My cable price keeps going up. What will happen to my Dish price?
A: While we can’t guarantee it won’t increase, satellite TV prices have risen more moderately than cable in recent years. Compare that to the huge increases that cable TV has had!

Q: Do I need to be present during the installation?
A: Yes, you will need to be at your home during the installation, since our installer must enter your property to complete the work. Also, you must be at least 18 years old to sign paperwork verifying the installation was completed and the service is working properly.

Q: Is my satellite TV signal affected by weather?
A: Severe weather can affect the dish for a few minutes while waiting for the storm to pass. Compare that with cable where weather outages are as long as a few hours to a few days.

Q: My service is not working properly, what should I do?
A: Please call our toll free service number at 1-877-DISHTV3 (347-4883) in Ohio and Michigan, or 1-866-WITH-DISH (948-4347) anywhere else in the country.

Q: When can I cancel my service?
A: To be eligible for the special rates we have now from Dish you are committing to a one-year agreement with us. Once you have had the service you will appreciate it so much that you probably won’t even want to consider canceling.

Q: Can I get my local channels?
A: Local channels are available through the satellite dish in may locations. Please check here to see what areas qualify.

Q: Can I get High Definition (HD) programming?
A: Yes, for a nominal charge you get a HD receiver that will work with your HD television. We do not include the HD television!

Q: Do you have Digital Video Recorder (DVR) capability?
A: Yes, we have a DVR similar to Tivo ™. DVR’s allow you to record programs directly off your television and play them anytime later. They also allow you to skip past commercials.

Q: Are there different packages available with different channels?
A: Yes, a variety of packages are available depending on exactly what you are looking for. Programming packages can be changed whenver you would like. Marrik Dish just asks that you keep the service for at least the first 18 consecutive months. For information on different programming packages check our channel listing.

Q: Do I need to have a landline phone or home phone line?
A: Not for some cases, but dual tuner and HD receivers need to be plugged into a land line.
